It has taken me several painful hours to summon the courage, composure, and strength to come to terms with the sudden and devastating demise of my beloved Deputy and brother, H.E. Alhaji Sanni Jajah.
Even as I struggle to accept the painful reality of his departure, I am reminded of the words of the Almighty Allah in the Holy Qur’an:
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”
Qur’an 2:156
It is with profound sorrow, overwhelming grief, and a heart burdened by an indescribable sense of loss that I announce the sudden and untimely passing of my Deputy Ambassador of Ghana to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Alhaji Sanni Jajah.
His death has left me deeply shaken and profoundly devastated. The sheer suddenness of his departure makes this loss particularly difficult to comprehend. There are moments when words fail completely, and this is one of those moments in my entire life.
Alhaji Sanni Jajah was not merely my Deputy. He was my brother, my trusted colleague, my confidant, and a dependable companion in the service of our beloved Republic. His presence beside me in the discharge of our diplomatic responsibilities was a source of strength, wisdom, and reassurance.
The passing of Alhaji Sanni is therefore not merely a painful personal loss; it is a grievous loss to the Embassy of Ghana in Riyadh, to Ghana’s diplomatic community, and to the nation he served with distinction, loyalty, and dedication.
He was a man of exceptional character, intellectual depth, professional discipline, uncommon humility, and remarkable composure. Throughout his service, he demonstrated the qualities of a true public servant—responsible, principled, thoughtful, and deeply committed to the interests of Ghana.
As my Deputy, he stood firmly beside me in the discharge of our responsibilities and contributed immensely to the effective representation of Ghana in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His counsel was invaluable, his commitment unquestionable, and his devotion to duty evident even in the most demanding circumstances.
He approached his responsibilities with maturity, discretion, wisdom, and courage. Beyond the office, however, was a man whose humanity, brotherliness, and warmth touched those around him.
For me personally, this loss is immeasurable. I have lost a Deputy, but more painfully, I have lost a brother. I have lost a trusted confidant, a valued colleague, and a man with whom I shared the burdens, responsibilities, challenges, and aspirations of representing Ghana in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His sudden departure has created a painful void that words cannot adequately describe and that time alone may struggle to heal.
Although the Holy Qur’an reminds us:
“Every soul will taste death.
— Qur’an 3:185
As painful as this reality is, we submit ourselves to the will and decree of Almighty Allah, knowing that every soul ultimately returns to its Creator.
The Embassy has lost a distinguished officer. The diplomatic community has lost a respected colleague. Ghana has lost a committed servant of the Republic. And I have personally lost a brother whose presence, counsel, loyalty, and friendship I shall profoundly miss.
On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Riyadh, and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, relatives, friends, colleagues, associates, and all those whose lives he touched during his time on earth.
At this moment of overwhelming grief, I urge all of us to remember Alhaji Sanni Jajah not only by the circumstances of his sudden departure, but by the dignity with which he lived, the integrity with which he served, the compassion he demonstrated, and the enduring contribution he made to the people and institutions entrusted to his care.
May Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy and compassion, forgive his shortcomings, accept his righteous deeds, expand and illuminate his grave, protect him from the punishment of the grave, grant him eternal peace, and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus, the highest abode of Paradise.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
We came from Allah, and to Allah we shall all return.
May Almighty Allah grant his family and loved ones sabr, the strength and patience to endure this devastating loss. May He comfort his children, relatives, friends, colleagues, and all who mourn his passing.
And may Allah grant all of us the courage, fortitude, and faith to come to terms with the painful departure of a distinguished son of Ghana, a dedicated diplomat, a loyal colleague, and, above all, my beloved brother, Alhaji Sanni Jajah.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
