Accra, Ghana – Ghana and Gabon have reaffirmed their longstanding friendship and commitment to stronger bilateral cooperation through a symbolic tree planting ceremony held at Jubilee House following official talks between President John Dramani Mahama and President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon.

The ceremony formed part of President Oligui Nguema’s official visit to Ghana and underscored the two nations’ shared vision of promoting sustainable development, environmental conservation, and deeper diplomatic relations.

Symbol of Friendship and Cooperation

Following bilateral discussions, the two Heads of State jointly participated in the tree planting exercise, a gesture symbolizing the enduring friendship between Ghana and Gabon.

The ceremony highlighted both countries’ commitment to nurturing stronger diplomatic, economic, and environmental partnerships while reinforcing the bonds of solidarity that have characterized relations between the two West and Central African nations.

Bilateral Talks Focus on Shared Development

Earlier, President Mahama and President Oligui Nguema held high-level bilateral talks at Jubilee House, where they discussed issues of mutual interest, including regional cooperation, trade, investment, security, and sustainable economic development.

The discussions also explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in key sectors that will benefit the peoples of both countries and strengthen African integration.

The tree planting ceremony also reflected the two governments’ commitment to environmental protection and climate action.

By planting the commemorative tree, the Presidents demonstrated their shared belief in preserving natural resources and promoting sustainable initiatives that contribute to a greener and more resilient future for Africa.

Strengthening Ghana–Gabon Relations

President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema’s visit is expected to further enhance diplomatic and economic cooperation between Ghana and Gabon while opening new avenues for collaboration in trade, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and regional peace and security.

The visit reaffirmed the strong relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to advancing development, prosperity, and unity across the African continent.
