Accra, Ghana – August 11, 2026: President John Dramani Mahama has approved a series of new appointments and reassignments as part of a major reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency on Tuesday, August 11, the changes are aimed at restructuring key positions within the National Security Council Secretariat, with all appointments and reassignments taking immediate effect.

Major Appointments and Reassignments

Under the new arrangement, Major (Rtd.) General William A. Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, has been appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator (Operations).

Former National Security Coordinator Mr. Yaw Donkor has also been appointed Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.

Other appointments announced by the Presidency include:

• Mr. Adamu Saaka – Director of Logistics and Transport.
• Ms. Faustina Effah-Boadi – Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department.
• DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri – Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
• ACP Alhassan Osman – Reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.

Immediate Effect

The Presidency stated that the appointments and reassignments take immediate effect, forming part of the broader reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat.

The changes bring experienced security and intelligence personnel into key operational, intelligence, logistics, human security, and special investigations roles.

The reorganisation is expected to strengthen coordination and operational effectiveness within Ghana’s national security architecture.

The announcement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.

The latest changes are expected to attract significant public and political attention as the government continues to adjust the structure and deployment of personnel within Ghana’s national security system.
