Kwadwo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has emerged as one of the notable figures from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Delegates Conference after being elected First National Vice Chairman of the party.
His election marks a significant new chapter in a political journey that has taken him from grassroots activism and his former association with the Delta Force group to a senior position within the NPP’s formal national leadership structure.
Kojo Bamba Elected NPP First Vice Chairman
Kojo Fosu Boadu emerged as the leading candidate in the NPP’s vice-chairmanship contest at the party’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on October 3, 2026.
Reports from Graphic Online and MyJoyOnline put his vote count at 3,116, with Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, receiving 3,061 votes and Nana Akomea securing 2,987 votes.
The Ghana News Agency, however, reported Kojo Fosu Boadu’s tally as 3,160 votes, reflecting a discrepancy in published results that may require clarification from the party or Electoral Commission.
From Delta Force to Formal NPP Leadership
Kojo Bamba’s political profile first attracted significant national attention through his association with Delta Force, a pro-NPP vigilante group that became prominent in the Ashanti Region following the party’s 2016 electoral victory.
His involvement with the group placed him at the centre of a controversial episode in 2017 involving an incident at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council. The episode led to police action and court proceedings.
His subsequent transition into the NPP’s formal organisational structures represented a different phase of his political career.
Transition Into the NPP’s Organisational Structure
In 2018, Boadu was appointed Deputy National Director of Operations of the NPP’s youth wing, according to reports on his political journey.
The move gave him a formal role within the party after his earlier involvement in grassroots political mobilisation.
Over the years, he continued to build his profile within the party before contesting for one of its national executive positions in 2026.
Focus on Grassroots Mobilisation
During his campaign for First Vice Chairman, Bamba placed considerable emphasis on strengthening the NPP’s grassroots structures.
He highlighted the importance of constituency executives and grassroots members in mobilising supporters and maintaining the party’s organisational structures.
Following his election, Bamba said he intends to prioritise grassroots empowerment and work with the new national leadership to rebuild and strengthen the party.
New NPP Leadership Team
Bamba will serve alongside John Boadu, who was elected National Chairman, and other newly elected national executives.
The NPP’s new leadership has been given a four-year mandate to oversee the party’s organisational and political activities. The party is also expected to focus on rebuilding its structures and preparing for the 2028 general election.
A New Chapter for Kojo Bamba
Kojo Bamba’s election represents a notable transition from his earlier grassroots political activities into formal national party leadership.
His new position will place him among the senior officials responsible for helping shape the NPP’s organisational direction and grassroots mobilisation in the coming years.
His political journey — from his early involvement in grassroots mobilisation and association with Delta Force to becoming a national vice chairman of the NPP — is likely to remain a significant part of his public political profile.
