Lawmakers Approve Nominations Following Appointments Committee Vetting

Parliament has approved the nominations of Mahama Ayariga as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.

The approval follows the successful vetting of the two nominees by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.

Mahama Ayariga Approved for Local Government Ministry

Mahama Ayariga, who is the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has been nominated to head the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

His proposed portfolio covers key areas including local governance, chieftaincy matters and religious affairs.

Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings Approved for Environment Ministry

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, has also received parliamentary approval for the position of Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.

During her vetting, she outlined proposed measures to strengthen environmental protection, improve waste management, address climate change and tighten monitoring of hazardous chemicals entering Ghana.

Approval Follows Parliamentary Vetting

The approval by Parliament clears the way for the two nominees to take up their respective ministerial responsibilities, subject to the completion of the required processes.

Their approval comes as government continues efforts to strengthen governance, environmental protection and local administration across the country.
