Accra, April 24, 2026 — The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has officially deployed an advance team to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to begin preparations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
The 11-member team, announced on Friday, will oversee early arrangements to ensure a smooth and well-organized pilgrimage for Ghanaian Muslims. The initiative is being carried out under the leadership of PAOG Chairman, Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Tanko Ibrahim.
According to the statement, the team includes experienced personnel such as Alhaji Abubakar BN Tanko Bawa, alongside medical professionals and operational staff. The group operates under the Grounds Operations Management Committee and comprises two doctors, two senior nurses, and additional support staff.
Their primary responsibility is to finalize all logistical, administrative, and welfare arrangements ahead of the arrival of pilgrims. This includes securing accommodation, organizing transportation, and ensuring access to quality healthcare services in key Islamic holy sites such as Makkah, Madinah, Mina, and Arafat.
The advance team will also assess electronic systems, verify catering services, and ensure that medical support structures meet required standards to guarantee a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience.
PAOG emphasized that the team will thoroughly inspect all arrangements to ensure convenience, safety, and close proximity to holy sites for Ghanaian pilgrims.
The early deployment reflects Ghana’s commitment to improving Hajj organization and enhancing the overall experience for its citizens participating in the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
