Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Alhaji Said Sinare, has paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen educational cooperation between Ghana and Saudi Arabia.
The high-level engagement focused on expanding educational opportunities for Ghanaian students and deepening bilateral collaboration in the education sector between the two countries.
Focus on Scholarships and Student Opportunities
According to Ambassador Said Sinare, discussions centered on creating more opportunities for Ghanaian students to access quality education in Saudi Arabia, particularly through stronger institutional partnerships and possible scholarship support.
The meeting forms part of broader diplomatic efforts to ensure that young Ghanaians benefit from international educational opportunities that can equip them with the knowledge and skills needed for national development.
Proposal for University Support in Northern Ghana
A major highlight of the discussions was the exploration of possible Saudi support for the establishment of a university in the northern part of Ghana.
If realized, the initiative could significantly improve access to tertiary education in northern Ghana and contribute to educational development, youth empowerment, and regional growth.
Observers say such a partnership would not only strengthen academic ties between Ghana and Saudi Arabia but also support Ghana’s long-term goal of expanding higher education infrastructure across the country.
Strengthening Ghana–Saudi Arabia Relations
Ambassador Said Sinare reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of building partnerships that create real opportunities for Ghanaians, especially the youth.
He noted that education remains one of the most powerful tools for development and that deepening cooperation in the sector could have lasting benefits for both countries.
Commitment to Youth Development
The latest engagement highlights Ghana’s continued efforts to use diplomacy to secure educational and developmental opportunities for its citizens abroad.
With education and youth empowerment remaining key national priorities, the meeting is expected to open fresh discussions on scholarships, institutional exchange programmes, and long-term collaboration between Ghanaian and Saudi educational institutions.
The development has been welcomed by many who see it as a positive step toward improving access to international education and promoting development in underserved parts of Ghana.
