Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, says widespread power outages—commonly referred to as “dumsor”—are severely impacting businesses, with many Ghanaians urging him to relay their concerns to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking during a recent engagement, Dr. Bawumia noted that business owners, traders, and entrepreneurs across the country have expressed frustration over the erratic power supply. According to him, the situation is disrupting daily operations and increasing the cost of doing business.
He explained that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in particular, are bearing the brunt of the outages, as many are forced to rely on expensive alternative power sources such as generators to keep their operations running.
“Ghanaians are telling us to inform the NDC that dumsor is killing their businesses,” he stated, stressing the urgency of addressing the power challenges.
Dr. Bawumia further emphasized that a stable and reliable electricity supply is essential for economic growth, job creation, and sustaining livelihoods. He called for deliberate policies and investments aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power across the country.
The issue of “dumsor” remains a major concern for many citizens, as it affects not only businesses but also households, healthcare delivery, and education.
Observers say the energy situation is likely to remain a key topic in Ghana’s political and economic discussions, especially as stakeholders continue to demand lasting solutions to the power crisis. JY TV NEWS Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
