Government Moves to Assist Affected Ghanaians Following Mass Demolition in Côte d’Ivoire
Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the government is repatriating 327 Ghanaian nationals from Côte d’Ivoire following a large-scale demolition exercise carried out by Ivorian authorities.
According to the Minister, the affected Ghanaians were displaced after structures in areas where they resided or operated were demolished as part of an exercise undertaken by authorities in the West African country.
Mr. Ablakwa stated that the Government of Ghana, through its diplomatic mission and relevant state agencies, has been working closely with Ivorian authorities to ensure the safe return of affected citizens.
He noted that arrangements have been made to facilitate the repatriation process and provide assistance to those impacted by the demolitions.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry has also assured the public that the welfare and safety of Ghanaian citizens abroad remain a top priority.
Officials say efforts are underway to coordinate transportation, documentation, and reception arrangements for the returning nationals.
Government agencies are expected to work together to assess the immediate needs of the returnees and provide the necessary support during their reintegration process.
