The Chief of Nyankpala, Nyankpala Lana, has publicly criticized the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the government of failing to adequately prioritize the welfare and development of young people after assuming office.
In remarks captured in a publication by Village MultiMedia, the traditional ruler expressed deep concern over what he described as the growing exclusion of the youth from opportunities, empowerment programs, and national support systems.
“Our youth are the future, yet they have been left out of opportunities and support. This is unacceptable,” Nyankpala Lana stated.
According to the chief, the youth remain the backbone of every developing nation and therefore must be given the necessary support, guidance, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to national progress.
He stressed that unemployment, lack of economic opportunities, and limited access to support systems continue to affect many young people across the country, particularly in local communities.
Nyankpala Lana further emphasized that governments must place stronger focus on youth empowerment through job creation, skills training, entrepreneurship support, quality education, and community development initiatives.
The traditional leader called on authorities to pay closer attention to the concerns of young people and ensure that policies and national programs directly benefit the youth population.
He noted that investing in the youth is essential for long-term national growth, peace, and social stability, adding that neglecting young people could have serious consequences for the country’s future.
The chief also urged young people to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to positive development while continuing to seek opportunities for self-improvement.
The statement has since generated discussions across social media and within political circles, with many Ghanaians sharing mixed reactions regarding youth development and government performance.
While some people agree with the concerns raised by the Nyankpala Chief, others believe government initiatives targeting youth empowerment are ongoing and require time to produce results.
Political observers say the comments reflect broader national conversations surrounding unemployment, economic hardship, and the role of leadership in addressing the needs of Ghana’s growing youth population.
The issue of youth empowerment continues to remain one of the major topics in Ghana’s political and social discourse as many young people seek greater opportunities and support nationwide. Chief of Nyankpala, Nyankpala Lana
